Simple Ways to Reduce Carbon Footprint | Eco Friend

It’s no secret that humans are having a negative impact on the environment. From our reliance on fossil fuels to producing harmful greenhouse gases, each of us leaves a carbon footprint that contributes to climate change. But what can we do to reduce carbon footprint? Here are some simple ways to start.

1. Choose the Least Amount of Packaging Possible.

reduce Carbon Footprint

Look for products with minimal packaging or that come in recyclable materials when you’re at the store. Bring your own bags and reusable containers, so you don’t have to use disposable ones.

And when you’re finished with something, recycle it instead of throwing it away. Every little bit helps. We can all do our part to protect the planet by making a few small changes in how we shop.

2. Reduce Water Wherever and Whenever Possible

There are many ways to reduce carbon footprint, and one of them is to reduce water whenever and wherever possible.

There are many ways to save water, such as using low-flow showerheads, fixing leaks, only running the dishwasher when it is full, and watering your plants during the cooler hours of the day.

In addition to saving water, you can also save energy by using less hot water. For example, take shorter showers, wash your clothes in cold water, and only run the dishwasher when it is full.

By making simple changes like these, you can save water and energy, which will help to reduce your carbon footprint.

3. Squashing the Trash

You can reduce carbon footprint in many ways, but one easy way is to squish the trash!

Not only does this reduce the amount of space that trash takes up in landfills, but it also reduces the amount of methane gas produced by decomposing organic waste.

When organic matter decomposes without oxygen, it produces methane, a greenhouse gas much more potent than carbon dioxide.

So, by squishing the trash, you can help to reduce methane emissions and slow down climate change.

4. Saving Electricity

One way to reduce carbon footprint is by saving electricity.

This can be done in several ways, such as using energy-efficient light bulbs, unplugging electronics when they’re not in use, and avoiding the use of unnecessary electronics

You can also save electricity by making sure your home is well-insulated and using natural lighting whenever possible.

Jared McMillen
Jared spent most of his working life in financial markets. He observed corporations making decisions for profit regardless of the impact on the environment. In many cases this was in full knowledge of the implications to the environment so it was a conscious decision of profit over our planet even though there were options that would deliver both albeit at a lower profit margin. As these decisions were outside of Jared's control he decided to make changes in his own life to help our planet. He found it difficult to find products that would have an impact as well as to find the correct information. It was from this frustration The Eco Friend was born.
